Wicked Big Dill Pickleball Tournament

Date: September 16 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Description:

Welcome to the 2024 Kingswood Regional High School Wicked Big Dill Pickleball Tournament!

The net proceeds will be used to support the Kingswood Regional High School Robotics Team and the Kingswood Regional High School Music Department.

The Kingswood Robotics Team, Number 4925, formed in 2013, earned its way to the Robotics Nationals in St. Louis, Missouri, that very year. The 2024 Team has grown to 30 students.

The Music Department provides opportunities for students to become independent and cooperative performers through its Concert Band and Concert Chorus.

This is a USA Pickleball Sanctioned Tournament. That means that all results will be reported to USA Pickleball. Some matches, but not all, will be refereed. All referees are USA Pickleball officials. The head referee is Joseph L. Santoro, who is both a USA Pickleball Certified Referee and the USA Pickleball Referee Training Coordinator for New England.

This event is a charitable fund-raiser to support Kingswood High School’s Robotics Team and Kingswood Music Departments.

This year’s event takes place at Kingswood High School’s in-door gymnasiums in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, on 9 courts. Registration is limited to the first 150 players to fully pay the registration fee.

Note: A player who registers but without making full payment, or a team that registers with one or more players who are not fully paid, can be displaced by a fully paid team if a bracket has reached full capacity.

Example: Assume a bracket has a maximum allowance of eight teams. Assume that seven teams have fully paid, but the eighth team [Team X] has at least one player who has not paid the registration fee. Should another team [Team Y] register and fully pay before Team X fully pays, Team Y may claim the eighth and final place in the bracket, while Team X is then moved to the wait-list.

The dates and events are:

Saturday, October 19: Women’s Doubles
Men’s Doubles

Sunday, October 20: Mixed Doubles

Tournament Event Format

All games will be Round Robin. Based upon the bracket size, the games will be 1-15 points, winning by 2, or 1-11 points, winning by 2. In a Round Robin format, each team plays every other team in that bracket at least once. For example, in a bracket with eight teams, each team will play seven games.

All brackets are limited to a minimum of three teams and a maximum of eight teams which will play as follows:

— Brackets with 3 or 4 teams will play a double Round Robin to 15 points.
— Brackets with 5 teams will play a single Round Robin to 15 points.
— Brackets with 6, 7, or 8 teams will play a single Round Robin to 11 points.

All brackets are formed first by Skill Level, such as 2.5, 3.0, etc., and then by Age in five year increments, such as 50-54, 55-59, etc.

The Tournament Director reserves the right to merge brackets when there is an insufficient number of players within a bracket to make for meaningful play. The Tournament Director also reserves the right to change the format should circumstances, such as adverse weather conditions, necessitate expediency. However, medals will be awarded for merged age brackets.

For example, assume that for Skill Level 2.5 there are two teams for Age Group 50-54, two teams for Age Group 55-59, and two for Age Group 60-64. If the Tournament Director chooses to combine the three age groups into one bracket, medals will be issued for the Comprehensive Age Group 50-64.

Other Notes:
1. The registration fee includes a souvenir tournament tee-shirt.
2. Individual events (such as mixed doubles) can be added to the registration for a separate fee.
3. This is an in-door tournament with no back-up dates. Thus, each registrant assumes
the risk that adverse weather could create scheduling delays, abbreviated play, or
event cancelation.
4. There is a no-refund policy. However, any request to withdraw received by September 15, 2024,
entitles the player to a refund not to exceed $ 45.00.

Additional Information

Wolfeboro. New Hampshire is the oldest “summer resort” community in the United States, and within a two hour drive from four major airports: Portland, Maine; Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Manchester, New Hampshire, and Boston, Massachusetts.

Players should bring their own chairs, equipment, hydration products, medical supplies, and food.
Several sandwich shops and restaurants are within a five minute walk from the courts.

Players who intend to stay over-night in a motel or hotel are encouraged to make reservations immediately as Wolfeboro is a tourist town. Thus, the number of available rooms is limited.

Refund Policy

This tournament is an in-door event with a no-refund policy.
Each player assumes the risk of inclement weather forcing tournament cancellation.

A player having paid the registration fee has until September 15, 2024, to request a refund.
The maximum refund is $ 45.00. When a refund is requested, the player must send an
email that includes the complete name and mailing address to which the refund check is to be sent.

After September 5, 2024, there are no refunds.
