Pickleball is Flourishing on California’s Picturesque Central Coast

One of the most beautiful areas of the country is also fast becoming one of the more popular areas for pickleball. The central coast of California, adorned with spectacular scenery amongst popular vineyards is home to the town of Paso Robles.

The Paso Robles Pickleball Club hosted their “2nd annual Wine Country classic,” a USAPA Sanctioned pickleball tournament at Centennial Park. Over 250 players, vendors & spectators thoroughly enjoyed the two-day event with participants ranging in ages from 9 to 80+ and coming from states as far away as Colorado, Arizona, Michigan and Alaska. The turnout featured the largest tournament to date on the central coast.

Living up to their “Wine Country Classic” name, each goodie bag included a bottle of wine from a local Paso Robles winery.  In addition, a dinner & wine tasting was hosted by Calcareous Winery.

The Paso Robles Pickleball Club is celebrating their 5th anniversary this year with over 100 regular members, 5 permanent courts and plans for expansion.

Pickleball in the California Central Coast District is growing by leaps and bounds – with 20 venues, 13 USAPA Ambassadors and a growing player base throughout the area.  Given their ideal location midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco and in the heart of California’s fastest growing wine region, pickleball in Paso Robles is well positioned to serve the rapidly expanding player base.  Good weather, great wine…and growing pickleball are making Paso Robles a “must-do” on the tournament circuit.
