More Graduates Receiving Diplomas at USAPA Pickleball University

Beautiful Colorado Springs provided the setting for the USAPA Pickleball University. A reception and welcome dinner for 45 students and six instructors kicked off the festivities for the four day event. The initial two days were filled with drills and skills to help the participating students improve their overall game of pickleball.  Two days of clinics were led by Scott Moore, one of the sport’s most decorated players along with his five instructors — Bill Muno, Tim Kuss, Vivian Edwards, Jon Moore and Josh Grubbs.

The USAPA Pickleball University was under the direction of USAPA Training Chair Pat Murphy and former USAPA President David Jordan. Stephanie McDonald and Great Plains Regional Directors Steve and Ramona Boone were also on hand to help out. Pickleball University features receptions and dinners for all students and instructors and offers a wonderful opportunity for everyone to share stories and laughter about this great sport. Marvelous raffle prizes and gifts from sponsors Franklin Sports, Gamma and Paddletek were awarded to the students.

The University curriculum culminated with the traditional graduation ceremonies and what has quickly become a fun and exciting event for everyone — the Instructor Challenge Exhibition Matches.  In Colorado some of the students took part in the matches against the professionals. Of course, everyone gets excited to beat the pros, but you’re going to have to attend a USAPA Pickleball University to hear the rest of the story.

The USAPA Great Plains Regional Tournament was held prior to the Pickleball University and several players participated in both events.  The weather was ideal and naturally, the students got in plenty of outstanding pickleball instruction and play which will undoubtedly help their games.

The USAPA has three more Pickleball Universities scheduled. Go to USAPA.org under the heading of Training/Teaching Pickleball and you’ll find more information on the upcoming Pickleball Universities which will be located on the East and West Coasts. For more information or if you have any questions on the USAPA Pickleball University, contact Pat Murphy at trainingchair@usapickleball.org.
