2nd - I intend to play this tournament as a Pro or Amateur? Answer required to proceed with registration.

A player will select which events they will participate in for the 2023 USA Pickleball National Championships. Once you select and are moved into an event - you will not be able to change that selection, as the Registration Team will be working from your selection to verify status. So make your selection wisely.

  • AMATEUR playing all my events in skill/age - this means you will only be playing in the skill/age events - no pro events - no senior pro events and no pro split/age events. You can not have a rating of 5.5 or higher in gender doubles, mixed doubles or singles. A rating of 5.5 or higher will exclude you from all amateur events. In the event you only have one rating 5.5 or higher, the others will be adjusted to 5.0 for you to participate in the other pro events.

  • PRO playing pro events only (qualified for at least one event at 5.0) - this means you have a 5.0 in one of the following events - gender doubles, mixed doubles or singles and you intend to play ALL EVENTS for the 2023 USA Pickleball National Championships in pro status. Any other events not meeting 5.0 status will be elevated for Pro Entry provided your partner is also eligible for the PRO events. Once you select Pro status you will not be eligible to play amateur events for the duration of the tournament. For example: if you play the Pro qualifier event and don’t make it to the Main Draw, you will be playing the Pro Bonus Draw no options will be made available to you to play an amateur skill/age event.

  • JUNIOR playing only Junior events for the entire tournament - this means SKILL/Age Events - age divisions 1-14, 15-16, 17-18. You can not have a rating of 5.5 or higher in gender doubles, mixed doubles or singles. A rating of 5.5 or higher will exclude you from all junior and amateur events. In the event you only have one rating 5.5 or higher, the others will be adjusted to 5.0 for you to participate in the other pro events. A player under the age of 19 can elect to play AMATEUR 19+ and Junior events provided they are not on the same day. If you play any amateur 19+ event your registration fee will be $155 not the discounted Junior fee of $55. Registration Fees for Junior Only events is $55, plus referee fee $35 and $15 per event.

These steps are important - when you register for a USA Pickleball sanctioned tournament - the Pickleball Tournaments site will cross-checked the USA Pickleball number you have listed in your player profile against the USAP database…if it matches then you can register…if not, then you go nowhere.

Here is some additional information when updating your Pickleball Tournaments player profile.

Any future change to your player profile will not be reflected in your registration. Changes required to your registration send an email to: nationalsreg@usapickleball.org

Every person will need to read through and accept those terms to move forward with the login process.

We’re aware some mobile devices were experiencing issues with the New Terms of Use - first, try turning your phone sideways for a wide screen view and read through the document to the bottom. If not use a computer or laptop.

Once accepted you can navigate the tournament website.

How can I search for a partner & notify Pickleball Tournaments of a registration change?

When registration opens to the public, the “Players Needing Partners” button will be made available on the tournament page. Here players looking for partners will be listed. You may email a player through the tournament system by clicking the envelope next to their name.

Now how to find partners - Look for the PLAYERS NEEDING PARTNERS button. First what code do you need for a partner - look on your registration form? Example: NCWSD65 for womens doubles players 65 or older, so we only need to look at the female players Let's look through the list for someone who needs NCWSD65 in the column of Need Partner. If we find someone lets look next at the skill level and then the age.

So how do you contact a player? See the envelope to the left of his name? Click on the envelope and it will bring up an email from YOU the player through the tournament software. Send him an email requesting a partner for the “name of the event” with the “skill level and age division”

If they say YES, you can change your registration or send an email to the registration coordinator - nationalsreg@usapickleball.org

If you don't get a reply, don't take it personally. Some players don't have Pickleball Tournaments set up in their contacts and email goes to junk mail and some have opted out of receiving all emails from the tournament (not wise but a choice). I would allow 5-7 days for a reply, as they may be playing a tournament or taking a break from technology to play recreational pickleball.
