The Association of Pickleball Professionals, (APP Tour), has been named Official Pro Tour Partner of USA Pickleball through 2023.
Launched in June of 2019, the APP Tour was the first USA Pickleball-sanctioned tour for professionals and amateurs. The 2021 APP Tour campaign currently has 18 scheduled tour stops, with a total prize purse of $700k. All matches played count towards a player’s overall UTPR player rating and with tour stops in 9 of the 12 USA Pickleball Regions, APP brings a quality tour experience to most areas of the United States. Additionally, the APP Tour will have two prestigious USA Pickleball “golden ticket” tournaments this fall with gold medal winners earning pre-registration slots to the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, in Indian Wells California. This year, 2021 “golden tickets” will be awarded to pro gold medal winners while amateur gold medal winners earning tickets to the 2022 National Championships.
“It is with great pride and humbleness that the APP team wishes to thank the USA Pickleball Board of Directors, executive staff and referees for aligning with APP and to collectively grow the game,” says Creative Founder and CEO Ken Herrmann. “With the continued support and full backing of USA Pickleball and their certified referees and ambassadors, we know that we have a shared voice in advancing the sport here in the US and abroad. As the APP Tour heads to Europe in 2022, our goal is to help the European associations grow their programs internally, which will further aid the cause of having pickleball recognized first in the Pan Am Games and hopefully the Olympics.”
“We are very pleased to have established this relationship with the APP Tour,” says Stu Upson, CEO of USA Pickelball. “ USA Pickleball is committed to supporting and growing all levels of the sport, from beginners to the elite professionals, and we welcome the APP Tour’s recognition and support of our efforts.”
The 2022 APP Tour will open its season at the new Legacy Sports USA complex in Mesa, Arizona January 4-9th. This event will be Legacy’s debut pickleball tournament and will coincide with their grand opening.
The full 2022 APP Tour schedule to be released June 15.
