The USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) congratulates this year’s Pickleball Hall of Fame class of 2019. We appreciate their dedication and efforts around the sport of pickleball to continue the significant growth journey and participation all across America. Well done and thank you!
The Pickleball Hall of Fame is proud to award this expression of esteem and appreciation to Daniel Gabanek, Jennifer Lucore, Steve Paranto and Enrique Ruiz.
DANIEL GABANEK
In recognition of his dominance in the sport of pickleball from 1988 to 2014. During this period, he was ranked #1 nationally in men’s open singles, earning 21 gold medals. He was ranked #1 in men’s open doubles winning close to 60 gold medals. His record also includes over 13 open mixed doubles titles. He is a four-time national champion and four-time runner up.
JENNIFER LUCORE
In recognition of her dominance in the sport of pickleball from 2010 until present. During this time, she won gold at 17 USAPA nationals, 11 Canadian nationals, 6 Huntsman world senior games, 6 international, 4 tournament of champions and 2 US open titles.
STEVE PARANTO
In recognition of his contribution to the sport of pickleball as the co-developer of the first non-wood composite light weight paddle. He was also the designer of the first “magnum” oversized paddle. He has competed at the Open / 5.0 level longer than any player to date, from 1974 to 2019. He has promoted the growth of pickleball by teaching, coaching and directing tournaments for over 30 years.
ENRIQUE RUIZ
In recognition of his dominance in the sport of pickleball for over 25 years. In addition to numerous medals won before current majors, he is a 10-time national champion with 6 wins in open events. He is also a 5-time champion of the international indoor championships and 3-time winner of tournament of champions. He is an ambassador of the sport, promoting the growth and expansion throughout the northwest.
