Youth players introduced to pickleball on eve of nationals

On Tuesday, Avalon Elementary School students saw what pickleball looks like at its highest level. The students watched an exhibition doubles match that included 21-year-old Fort Myers native Kyle Yates, considered one of the top pros in the U.S. Open. Fifth-grader Roberto Torres even got to participate in the pro match, which included reigning Nationals Open singles champion Marcin Rozpedski. “Wow,” the awestruck Roberto said. “I kind of got nervous playing with the pros.
