Construction Underway for New Outdoor Pickleball Courts in Colorado Community

For the past five years, the Roaring Fork Pickleball Association, based in the town of Carbondale, Colorado has been in lengthy discussions with town officials over the construction of dedicated outdoor pickleball courts.

With members stretching from coast to coast as many live part-time in the prestigious zip code, the Association was finally able to work out an agreement and the initial excavation of land is currently underway. Local membership in RFPA is comprised of pickleball enthusiasts from Rifle to Vail to Aspen.

Plans are to develop six outdoor pickleball courts which, weather permitting will be ready for play in mid-2020. Construction crews are compacting the soil, getting ready for the concrete pour.

Throughout the five-year process, the unique public/private partnership is one that many of the Roaring Fork members take a great deal of pride in. “All of us with the Roaring Fork Pickleball Association are certainly proud of the patience and persistence we displayed during this long progression, but through it all, the end result will be a beautiful new facility for all of us and future pickleballers to enjoy,” said Clyde Alberts, USAPA Ambassador based in Carbondale. He received plenty of support throughout the negotiating process with five other USAPA Ambassadors, all within a 30-mile radius of Clyde’s domain — Glenwood, Aspen, Basalt, Snowmass, and New Castle.
