Referee clinics enhance quality of pickleball play

While most spectators show up for the players at pickleball tournaments in The Villages, there’s another important element that contributes to the monthly events: Referees.

A handful of future pickleball referees was introduced to the job Friday afternoon at Lake Miona Recreation Center, where the Pickleball Community Volunteer Group held its monthly referee clinic.

Jeff Shank, a USA Pickleball Association-certified referee, leads the sessions, along with Ron Jenkins, one of the Pickleball Community Volunteer Group’s veteran volunteers. Read More…
