Corvallis Pickleball tournament draws record crowd

The Jim Ringler Memorial Tournament was so named in honor of Corvallis dentist Jim Ringler, who introduced the sport to hundreds of people locally before passing away in March 2013. “He was a great pioneer of the game and he’s the reason why hundreds of people in Corvallis and Albany know of Pickleball,” said co-organizer Jim Schupp. “I knew him for 25 years and he was the one who introduced me to the sport. He’s the reason so many people know it and love it.” Schupp said the turnout Saturday was a record crowd for a Pickleball tournament in Corvallis and he expects next year’s tournament to be even bigger.
