Pickleball championships take centre stage in Waterloo

Max Wentzlaff is a tad edgy about playing his new sport in his first real tournament, the Eastern National Pickleball Championships coming to RIM Park next week. The 11-year-old Kitchener boy, who took up one of North America’s fast-growing games mere months ago, will make his debut against other junior-aged players, some of them up to seven years his senior. “I am a little nervous,” says Max, who is entering Grade 7 at Stanley Park Public School in the fall. “I know I can try my best and have fun, though.
